About This Tour...

A pleasant ride in the countryside outside of Amsterdam

This is a perfect warm-up tour and sight seeing trip outside of Amsterdam with opportunities to experience local restaurants along the way. This trip begins and ends at the Magere (Skinny) Bridge near where Prinsengracht and the Amstel meet. You'll be cycling along the Amstel River through neighborhoods that allow a faster bicycling pace than the canal district and provide many amazing house boat views.

Before you know it, the city streets disappear and you enter a greenscape as you go along Amstel Park. In the spring and summer months, look for the ferry across the Amstel (just beyond the windmill) and continue on the opposite side to the town of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. If the ferry is not available, then continue and connect with the route at the next bridge in Ouderkerk ann de Amstel.

From here, the loop begins around the polder called the Ronde Hoep Polder.

Alert:  If you decide to visit Amstel Park, and you should, you are forbidden from bringing your bike inside the park boundary. This park is unique in that it is a sanctuary for park visitors who want a bicycle-free experience. It's a beautiful park and you should make time to discover this Amsterdam treasure by foot. If needing a personal day off, consider a picnic blanket and Metro ride instead!

In April and September you can only sail during the weekend.

Daily sailing is possible in the months of May to August. The sailing times are from 12:00 to 18:00.
